 ALAN & BARBARA SEROTA (ph.512-264-2402) EmaiLalan@spicewoodpottery.com

FINE ART  *  HEALING TOUCH  *  CLASSES IN "CONSCIOUS MOVEMENT"

Alan and Barbara Serota have been working together as potters since 1976, when they met in art school at the University of Texas ~ Austin. Their porcelain vessels are individually crafted and fired in unusually long, hot firings for 24 or more hours to encourage the glaze to cascade and pool over the white porcelain ~ rendering subtle, opalescent rainbows of color.

Alan and Barbara live in the hill country near Austin in the stone house which they hand built over the course of 4 years ~ gathering stone and slowly creating their home ~ an earthen vessel designed for simple living. Their stewardship of the land and their communion with Nature is expressed in the unglazed white porcelain which is often symbolically torn and textured and permanently set with precious stones and ancient objects.

Preserving their original vision of the deep, joyful and simple life of the craftsman, their pieces reflect a sense of integrity and serenity. These pieces are strong and enduring, and whether they are holding flowers, serving food, or simply bringing more beauty into the home or office, they will live long lives and be passed on to the next generation.

Spicewood Pottery is located near SpicewoodVineyards  (www.spicewoodvineyards.com) and Krause Springs and has belonged to the Texas Hill Country Art and Wine Trail which is accessible through the link www.artandwine.org .
